Chapter 2 Where are the villagers?(1/2)

Xiaoya walked in, holding a tray in her hand. There was a bowl of water, a bowl of porridge, some pickles on the porridge, and a pair of chopsticks.

"Why are you lying down again? You can get up to eat." Xiaoya said.

A Niu got up after hearing this. Xiaoya walked over, put the tray on the cabinet next to the bed, and then took a stool to sit on.

After Aniu saw the food, he asked, "This, this...is it just porridge?"

"Yes, you just woke up, it would be better to drink some porridge."

A Niu was stunned for a moment, "Okay then." A Niu first picked up a bowl of water, drank a few sips, then put it down, then picked up the chopsticks with his right hand, picked up the porridge bowl with his left hand, and started eating.

Xiaoya just watched A Niu eat without saying a word, but A Niu knew that Xiao Ya was looking at her and was very embarrassed. After putting down the bowl, she said, "Xiao Ya, I feel a little uncomfortable when you look at me eating like this."

Sorry."

"Why are you so embarrassed as a grown man? After you finish eating, just go on and rest."

"Oh, I got it."

"Then you eat slowly. I'll leave first. I'll collect the bowls later. Just remember not to waste it."

Before she finished speaking, Xiaoya stood up and left.

"Wait a minute." A Niu stopped Xiaoya.

"What's wrong? Is there anything else?"

"Nothing, I just want to ask you, do you live alone here?"

"That's not true. My father and I depend on each other for life. My mother died early and there was nothing we could do."

"Oh, really? Then what do you do for a living?"

Xiaoya then sat down on the small bench again: "My father is a fisherman and I am a fish seller. The two of us make a living by fishing and selling fish."

"Fishing and selling fish, how is the business?"

"Business, it's just like that, good times and bad, but life can still be lived."

"Then when will you sell the fish?"

"Well, my dad usually goes fishing in the morning and then sells fish in the afternoon. Basically, there won't be much left by the evening."

"Yeah."

"Do you have anything else to ask?"

"Well, uh, let me ask again when I remember."

"Okay then, you go on eating, I'll leave first."

"Oh well."

After Xiaoya got up and left, she suddenly stopped and turned around: "Oh, by the way, I will go to the market to sell fish in a while. You should watch carefully here and don't miss anything. Do you understand?"

"Isn't this your home? What else could be missing? Do you think I'm a thief?"

"Haha, that's not true. It's just that a thief appeared. Okay, I won't tell you anymore. You can rest."

Then Xiaoya left.

"This is interesting, there are also thieves appearing." A Niu said to himself.

Then Ah Niu continued to finish the rest of the porridge, drank all the water, and put the chopsticks on the tray.

Then I fell on the bed, closed my eyes, and thought about life.

After that, Xiaoya lay down by the door and looked at A Niu: "A Niu, I went out to sell fish. You are optimistic about this house and let's go."

After hearing this, A Niu said: "Okay, Xiaoya."

A Niu, who was thinking about life, opened his eyes and said: "Now is not the time to sleep and think about life. I have to do something to find out the origin of my current body."

Then he got up and walked out of the room.

Aniu was walking along the seaside and saw a little boy. When he got closer, he saw that the boy was fishing.

"Kid, are you alone?" Aniu walked to the little boy's right and sat down and asked.

The little boy looked at A Niu and said, "You, I remember you seem to be the one who was rescued by Sister Xiaoya."

"You also know Xiaoya, I was saved by her."

"How could a villager not know this?"

"Yeah, look at what I said."

"Then what are you doing out here? Aren't you going to rest?"

"I've had enough rest and want to come out for some fresh air."

"Yeah, it's really boring to stay in the house all day long. You should come out for some fresh air."

"I still don't know what your name is?" A Niu asked.

"Me? My name is Xiaohai, what's yours?"

"I don't know what my name is either. Xiaoya named me A Niu."

"Aniu, hehe, okay, I'll call you Brother Aniu from now on."

"Haha, it's up to you. By the way, shouldn't a kid like you have fun? Why are you fishing here?"

"It's not that I don't want to play, but I'm the only child in this village now."

"What do you mean? There are still no people in such a big village."

"Well, there are only two families left in such a big village."

"What, how is this possible?"

"I know you won't believe me when I say it, but it's actually like this. I live with my grandfather, and sister Xiaoya lives with her father. Alas, that's just two households."

"This..." Aniu was stunned for a while, "Then what is the reason why all the people in this village are gone?"

"Well, according to what my grandfather said, this village was quite lively at first, but then a group of bandits came and looted the village. Then half of the villagers were missing from the village, and then the remaining villagers began to have some problems.

I came up with the idea, and basically some people left after a while, and now there are only two households left.”

"I see, so have those bandits been caught?"

"Those who can't be caught will run away after robbing them, and the government can't do anything about them."

A Niu said angrily: "What, the government actually said there is nothing they can do, so what are they going to do for food?"

"Who knows? But my grandfather also said that there was nothing he could do. They were all lies. In fact, it was the government that took benefits from the bandits, so they just sat back and did nothing."

"What, these officials are actually doing this kind of thing without conscience. Aren't they afraid that the emperor will find out?"

"This is a small place, not many people will take care of it."

"So are you like this every day?"

"There is no way. My grandpa is old and can't do anything. Dad and mom will come back sometimes, but they won't stay for too long."

"Then why don't your parents take you with them?"

"My parents asked me to accompany my grandpa, so they won't take me with them. When I grow up, I want to go outside and see."

"That's great, then Xiaohai, let me ask you, how are Xiaoya and the others doing?" A Niu asked.

"Sister Xiaoya? She is beautiful and can work. Unfortunately, this is a poor place and it will be difficult to get married."

"In a poor place, I remember Xiaoya said that they can make a living by fishing and selling fish. Why..."

"That must be Sister Xiaoya who lied to you. As you can see, my fishing rod has not moved at all for such a long time. What does this mean?"

"What do you mean? There won't be any fish."

"That's right, there are no fish. There are no fish in such a big sea. Brother Aniu, do you know where Sister Xiaoya's father goes fishing?"

"Xiaoya never said this."

"Then let me tell you, his father has to walk a long way every day to go fishing in the next village, and then sell it in the market."

"Next door village, here, why did Xiaoya lie to me?"

"Who knows, maybe I don't want you to know. After all, no one has visited this village for ten years."

"Is that so?" A Niu thought for a while, "Then do you live like this every day? The villagers have left, haven't you thought about leaving here too?"

"Leave here, grandpa is old and can't leave. My parents asked me to accompany grandpa, but I can't leave either. And I'm still young, so I can't go there either."

"What about Xiaoya and the others?"

"Sister Xiaoya, I remember Sister Xiaoya said, where should I go after leaving this village? I am not familiar with other places, have no relatives, and don't know what to do better."

After hearing this, A Niu realized something later, "That's right, it's true. It's really not easy for people in other places who are not familiar with the place."

"Brother A Niu has said so much, and you have always asked how we are doing. Now you can talk about Brother A Niu."

"Haha, me? This is me..."

"What's wrong? Tell me quickly."
