Chapter 1190 Thoughts

When I came to Yidian, Su Jinpao had dinner and was lying on a soft silk sheet of silk to read a book.

The sound of the prince coming came from outside. Su Jinpao was about to put down the book to greet him, but he saw Li Chen walking in a row and trekking into the bedroom.

"No need to salute."

Li Chen waved his hand to stop Su Jinpa who was about to get up, and then ordered all the palace maids who served him to retreat.

Only Li Chen and Su Jinpa were left in the room.

Li Chen smiled and approached Su Jinpa and asked, "Has the cold wind and cold been better a few days ago?"

"It's better to use a few doses of medicine. Doctor Zhang's medical skills are very good." Su Jinpa replied.

"What book do you read?" Li Chen asked again.

"Taoist Commentary."

Su Jinpa turned over the book in his hand and exposed the title of the book on the cover to Li Chen's eyes.

"The book written by Yin Junfeng of the previous dynasty?"

Li Chen raised his eyebrows and said, "I have read some of this book, and most of the contents make sense, but through this book, I pursued the illusory Taoist theory too much, and kept advocating that the monarch should be governed by nothing, which is really nonsense."

Seeing that Li Chen was not polite in his comments, Su Jinpa retorted: "It cannot be generalized. The Taoist commentary on inaction is more inclined to Lao Tzu's original intention, that is, inaction does not mean doing nothing. It is extended to the concept of governing the country, that is, the monarch should also constrain power in the system, and then return more freedom to the people, so that the people can exert more self-activity, thereby reaching the point of creating a prosperous era."

"That's it, isn't it nonsense?"

While Li Chen was speaking, he had already lifted the corner of the quilt on the soft couch, got in and squeezed into the same quilt with Su Jinpa, and was still talking to attract Su Jinpa's attention.

"I have never been a monarch before. It sounds easy, but it is actually too ideal."

"How easy is the monarch to rule the world?"

"Even if you are oppressed by power and punished severely, there are still unfair things in this world and you are still free to the people. To put it nicely, everyone's ideological realm and quality are different. Some are good, while others are bad."

"Just like the vegetables and radishes, everyone has their own love."

"How can we unify our thinking by doing nothing?"

"Since the thought cannot be unified, the country will sooner or later fall into chaos."

Su Jinpa only felt that the quilt was suddenly squeezed, and subconsciously moved inside to make some space for Li Chen, but his mind kept following Li Chen's argument.

After thinking about it, Su Jinpa couldn't help but say, "Is Taoist thoughts that have been passed down for thousands of years worthless in your eyes?"

"I am the prince, and Taoist thoughts cannot be adopted, but I am Li Chen, and I respect Taoist thoughts."

Li Chen chuckled and said, "To put it bluntly, in the era of the Hundred Schools of Thoughts, the thoughts of any school of thought represent a kind of thought. The collision of such thoughts is beneficial to the country and the nation. Why is our Central Plains culture so brilliant as a galaxy? It is because there are too many sages who uphold different ideas, improve their respective ideas in debate and comparison, and then find a path that is most suitable for Central Plains culture in the test of history."

"Why can Confucianism last laugh is not because of how advanced and perfect Confucianism is. Any system in this world has its limitations and flaws, and the same is true for Confucianism. However, the core of Confucianism emphasizes benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, trustworthiness, forgiveness, loyalty, filial piety, and fraternity. These nine virtues give the emperor a theoretical basis to rule the world with imperial power."
